Update on Helping Evacuees – Government of Saskatchewan

Jul 9, 2015 | 11:42 AM

We’ve had a number of questions about how people can help ‪#‎skfire‬ evacuees. Here’s the info.

Volunteering:

The Red Cross is providing care alongside the province to more than 7000 people at evacuee centres and elsewhere. To get info on becoming a Red Cross volunteer, contact them at:

306.721.1600 – Regina
306.668.0720 – Saskatoon
www.redcross.ca

Also, note the Red Cross Inquiry Line for evacuees or family members of evacuees.

1.888.953.3463 (if you’re missing a family member call this number)

Donations:

The Red Cross is currently not setup to process and distribute donated goods and is not asking for monetary donations as they are working with the provincial government.

The Salvation Army, however, is asking for summer clothing of all ages and sizes. Shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits, sandals/flip-flops and underwear.

The Salvation Army will also accept non-plush toys, colouring books, reading material and so forth.

It will not accept food and is trying to stay away from non-urgent needs like winter clothing.

Donations can be dropped off at Salvation Army Thrift Stores.

Prince Albert, 900 Central Avenue
Regina, 840 Albert Street / 1711 Dewdney Avenue East
Saskatoon, 410 – 42nd A. Street East / 3000 Diefenbaker Drive
