So far the situation is managable, according to Pierce, as they have enough volunteers at this time. People in the city are not being asked to open their homes.

One city resident even walked into the center to offer up their home, in which Pierce politely declined, as centers are being set up in Saskatoon.  

She said Prince Albert is at capacity with 300 people between two shelters, 450 in hotels and 1,200 have been taken in by family and friends. 

Pierce said she wants to thank all the Red Cross volunteers, social workers and others for helping.  

To date, just over 12,000 people will be evacuated from northern Saskatchewan.
