Prince Albert residents offered some food for thought

Free hamburgers were merely the appetizer at a barbecue hosted by CUPE Local 4777 Wednesday afternoon.

Union members were encouraging members of the public to sign a petition that speaks out against privatized health care.

“We pay taxes already for those public services and then to pay over, is just like double-paying and people shouldn’t have to worry about affording health care or education for their children,” said Helen Sawatsky, the union’s president.

Sawatsky said when someone has a private company they are there to make money and so if they are not making money, they are there to jack up the costs.
