Playground summer fun for Prince Albert kids

Jun 23, 2015 | 11:36 AM

Ten parks around Prince Albert are gearing up to keep kids entertained this summer.

The City’s free annual summer Playground Program kicks off on Thursday, July 2.

Children from the ages of five to 12 years old can participate in daily activities through until August 14, 2015.

Those running the summer sports, arts, and cultural programming will move around, visiting each playground throughout the summer so the kids at each location can participate.

There are two trained and qualified playground supervisors staffed at each park location.

The Playground Program runs Monday to Thursday from noon until 5:30 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m., except for the Bernice Sayese Centre (open from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Additionally, Ella Muzzy in Kinsmen is open on weekends from 1 to 5 p.m.

In a release from the City, recreation coordinator Curtis Olsen touted the program for providing exercise and creative outlets for children.

He also pointed out it’s a good chance to get outdoors to do supervised activities, rather than staying indoors all summer.

It’s operated by the City of Prince Albert’s Community Services Department.
