New K9 gets name – with a little help

May 1, 2015 | 11:50 AM

The Prince Albert Police Service’s (PAPS) new K9 now has a new name: Blue.

The K9 Unit went to the Victoria Hospital’s pediatric ward to get the help of a young volunteer. Emmanuel, 3, volunteered and selected the name Blue.

The police service held a contest, asking children to submit names for the new K9, and 258 different names were entered. The entries were narrowed down to a field of three: Kane, Blue and Duke.

The PAPS plans to recognize the three children who submitted the names that made the list of finalists at a later date.

Blue replaces Jagger, who recently retired. Blue has been paired with Cst. Mike Chow.
