Charges laid against 2 who surrendered to SWAT in Regina
Charges are now being laid against a man and a woman who surrendered to the SWAT team in an east Regina neighbourhood Tuesday evening.
It all started just after 12:30 p.m. when police got a call from someone in North Central who spotted the couple getting out of a car carrying what looked like a handgun and a shotgun.
Police then responded to a break and enter and armed robbery on the 1000 block of Athol Street. Officers were told the suspects were wearing masks and robbed a person in the home of prescription drugs and money before driving away.
As police followed their trail to the 3700 block of Regency Crescent, the suspects spotted the marked cruiser and took off, hitting a parked car on the way.
That eventually led police to a home in the 400 block of Froom Crescent, which was then surrounded by officers. After being unsuccessful at getting the suspects to leave the home, the SWAT team was brought in along with negotiators around 5 p.m.
About two hours later, three people surrendered and were taken into custody.
Now, 32-year-old Kristen Allard faces multiple charges including break and enter and commit armed robbery, possession of stolen property and breach of probation.
Twenty-one-year-old Justin Pratt also faces multiple charges including possession of a prohibited firearm, break and enter and commit armed robbery and disguise with intent to commit and indictable offence.
Both made their first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
