KidSport thief turns himself in

Only four days after an arrest warrant was put out for a man who skipped court, he turned himself in to police.

Police confirm Marvin Moses C. Sanderson, the man who pleaded guilty to stealing more than $5,000 from KidSport, came into their station on Friday.

He was lodged there until he appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court the same day, and was released on an undertaking.

He is scheduled to be back in court Oct. 8.

He’s missed numerous court appearances previously, and his court worker hadn’t spoken with Sanderson for more than three months before he skipped court on Sept. 23.

The man, in his early 40s, had missed court in the past reportedly because he was in Edmonton for cancer treatment. His court worker, Frank Carriere, said earlier in the year the cancer was terminal.

Sanderson’s sentencing was adjourned in May for several months, so he could make an effort to gather funds to repay the money that was stolen. However, so far that has not happened.

Sanderson’s only comment outside court after he pleaded guilty in March was that he’s “ashamed. ”
