CIS Football: Huskies beat Rams on late TD
REGINA – Shane Buchanan reeled in a five-yard touchdown pass with 1:53 left to play as the Saskatchewan Huskies slipped by the Regina Rams 21-16 on Saturday in Canadian university football action.
Quarterback Drew Burko completed 30 of 46 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns — including the winner to Buchanan — to lead seventh-ranked Saskatchewan’s (3-1) offence. Burko also had two interceptions. A two-point conversion attempt after Buchanan’s TD failed, but the Huskies held on for the win.
Running back John Trumpy carried the ball nine times for 111 yards.
QB Noah Picton led Regina (1-3) with 355 passing yards, a touchdown and three interceptions.
