Sask. rugby player gets crack at world title

A Saskatoon face is among the scrum as the Canadian Women's rugby team competes for the world championship this Sunday in France.

Kayla Mack plays second row for the team.

“My job is just to move around the field and ruck as much as I can and just do as much work as I can for as long as I can,” Mack said.

She said playing for big crowds in rugby-mad France has been electrifying throughout the tournament.

“You can barely hear the person that's four feet away from you, so you can imagine that for someone not used to playing on a field that loud, it really gets you going,” she said.

Mack said she's pumped up to take on England in the final.

“The atmosphere is going to be amazing and I just can't wait to step out on the field with my teammates and go for the win.”

The game starts at 10:30 a.m. Sunday and will be televised on TSN.
