About a week after being declared the captain of the Prince Albert Raiders, defenceman Josh Morrissey signed his first professional hockey contract.
The Winnipeg Jets signed Morrissey to a three-year, two-way entry level contract Thursday. The Jets drafted Morrissey 13th overall in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
During the preseason, the 18-year-old Calgarian was named the game’s third star in a 4-1 Jets loss to the Minnesota Wild.
