Turbo

Turbo is a movie about a garden snail with dreams of living life in the fast lane. Through a freak accident, he becomes blessed with some amazing powers and eventually ends up racing in the Indy 500.

An all-star cast provides the voices for these tiny mollusks (Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L Jackson, and Snoop Dogg to name a few). This was by far one of the funniest animated movies I have seen in a long time, and I have no problem admitting that I was cheering out loud for the snail to win. Kids will love the racing snails, but the adults will love some of the more cleverly disguised jokes.

A warning to those who get queasy easily, some of the 3-D effects may have you wanting to pull over. The race scenes move quite fast.

Despicable Me 2

I've been waiting for weeks to see this movie. Every time I tried to go, the show was sold out. After seeing it for myself, I can see why it is so popular. Very few sequels are better than their predecessors, but Despicable Me 2 is the exception.

Gru is back, but his days of evil are behind him. He is now focused on being a good father and running his jelly business. Faster than you can say “James Bond”, Gru is snatched up by a government agency. They need his help saving the world.

Despicable Me 2 features some of the better effects I have seen in a 3-D movie. The minions have plenty of cool tricks up their sleeves, and will have audiences of all ages laughing. I will definitely be adding this movie to my Blu-Ray collection.
