Prince Albert Raiders defenceman Josh Morrissey was recognized for his brilliant mind at the Canadian Hockey League Subway Awards in Saskatoon Saturday.

Morrissey was presented with the CHL Scholastic Player of the Year award, given to players who balance school and the grind of major junior hockey at great levels.

The draft eligible d-man maintained a 92.4 per cent average in his Grade 12 year at Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert.

The only other player in Raiders history to win the award was Jeff Nelson, who took the award in back-to-back years in 1989 and 1990.
