Roche Percee avoiding flooding after devastation in 2011

May 9, 2013 | 6:55 AM

Two years ago, the village of Roche Percee just southeast of Estevan was underwater, but this year, the community is breathing a cautious sigh of relief.

Flood waters in 2011 destroyed 40 homes and forced most of the 171 people in the village to evacuate.

This year, sandbags are on standby around the community. None have had to be set out.

“It look like we're okay…” says Roche Percee mayor Blake Penna.
