Accused in April police standoff pleads not guilty

One of the men accused of taking part in an April 4 standoff with police in Prince Albert’s West Flat pleaded not guilty Thursday to two charges stemming from the incident.

Cole Sanderson, 19, appeared in a Prince Albert Provincial Court room surrounded by family. His lawyer, James Streeton entered the plea on Sanderson’s behalf.

Sanderson faces one forcible confinement charge and one charge of assault with a weapon causing bodily harm.

Sanderson and Justin William Ryan Charles, both of Prince Albert, face charges in connection with the April 4 standoff. Charles has also been charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon causing bodily harm, as well as fabricating evidence and breach of an undertaking.
