NHL lockout could end this week:report

Dec 4, 2012 | 5:53 AM

A sports reporter out of Boston has reported the news every hockey fan has been waiting for.

Steve Burton, a sports reporter with CBS Boston, says the NHL lockout could end within the next couple of days.

Burton was the reporter who broke the news about Phil Kessel being diagnosed with testicular cancer during the 2006-2007 season. Still, a lot of people on Twitter remain very skeptical.

@SunGarrioch tweets, “It took the #NHL and the #NHLPA 3 days to agree to a meeting. Does anybody honestly think agreed to a deal?”

@CaptainCrunch17 tweets, “Anyone else hearing reports the #NHL lockout could be over by the end of this week? I'll believe it when I see it!”

Sports writer and Bruins insider Joe Haggerty cites a source saying the rumour is, “interesting, but not true.”

Not everybody is so skeptical.

@tstats1129 tweets, “I've never wanted to believe a single person's report more than the one that the #NHL lockout is over #endthelockout.”

@CameronAckbar tweets, “Exodus of NHLers to leave the K include Landeskog, Rask, Tavares #NHLLockout #NHL #WE HOCKEY NOW.”

He also tweets, “An insider told me (He's a Blackhawk affiliate) that unless someone major happens before Friday we can (sic) except a season.”

The labour talks resume Tuesday with six owners and six players taking part.

Commissioner Gary Bettman and union head Donald Fehr will not be involved.
