Streakers and fights add colour to Sirens game Saturday night

There's no shortage of passion for fans of the Lingerie Football League.

During Saturday night's game in Saskatoon between the Saskatoon Sirens and the Regina Rage, fights broke out in the stands and streakers hit the field.

“This happens in soccer, it happens in every major sport,” said league founder and chairman Mitchell Mortaza. “I think the fans saw the potential for the sport.”

It will certainly make for an entertaining game when the two teams play.

“To have the rivalry start this early, I think it's a great indicator for LFL football and specifically the Regina Rage and the Saskatoon Sirens,” Mortaza said.

The rivalry will continue when the two teams meet in Regina on October 21.

It will be an extra special game, because the winner will advance to the first ever Canadian LFL championship game.

“We expect the Brandt Centre to be packed, the people to be fired up, it should be an incredible game,” Mortaza said.

Mortaza believes even though it's never good to see people get hurt, it brings a level of legitimacy to the sport.
