15 Saskatchewan Artists Receive $10,000 Each

Rawlco Radio is proud to announce another 15 recipients for Project 10K20 Saskatchewan.

From 2010 to 2014, Project 10K20 will provide 80 Saskatchewan artists
with $10,000 each to record, mix, and master a full length album. Rawlco Radio will
continue to announce future recipients in March and September of each year.

The 2012 recipients are:

– Saskatoon: Jen Lane, Josh & Kirby, ReignWolf, Sparky, Foam Lake, Wyatt

– Regina: Jason Plumb, Keshia Angeline, Chris Henderson, Poor Nameless Boy,
Val Halla, Tyler Gilbert

– Langenburg: Jess Moskaluke

– Kennedy: Blake Berglund

– North Battleford: Cities Under Fire

10K20 Saskatchewan Project Director Harreson James says, “The exciting part of this
program is that it is open to all genres; country, folk, pop, rock and more. It has been a
remarkable year with artists covering nearly all the musical genres and coming from
across Saskatchewan. We are extremely proud of our Saskatchewan talent and believe
this is a great way to showcase them”.

It’s important for Canada to hear Saskatchewan’s best artists on the radio and for this
not to be hindered by lack of funding.

Project 10K20 funding helps provide artists with the money and time to do their best work. David J. Taylor 10K20 Recipient / Singer- Songwriter / WCMA “Producer of the Year” adds, “The funding I have received through Rawlco Radio Project 10K20 has had and will continue to have a huge effect on my
overall career within the music industry in Saskatchewan, across Canada and
worldwide.It has afforded me the most valuable asset a recording artist can have when
making a new album: The time to do it to the best of my ability.”

Jen Lane: Saskatoon
With the release of “For The Night”, Jen Lane is finally claiming her rightful place among the
elite of Canadian roots country singer songwriters. She has showcased at SXSW, NXNE,
WMCA’s, OCFF and CMW. At last, the rest of the country’s music fans can discover the voice
Western music awards juries have been onto for several years.

Josh & Kirby: Saskatoon
The powerful duo, Josh Palmer and Kirby Criddle showed Saskatoon their incredible harmonies
and melodies which won them the 10K20 funding through the C95 Duo competition.

ReignWolf: Saskatoon
While standing behind a kick drum armed with a guitar and all kinds of attitude, Saskatoon born
Jordan Cook a.k.a ReignWolf instantly captivates the crowd with his howling vocals, ferocious
riffs and raw energy. He was added to the official line up of SXSW, as well as being a featured
performer at Toronto’s Canadian Music Week, Sasquatch! And the Capital Block Party in
Washington. He was also recently invited to bring down the house at England’s, The Great
Escape, and other festivals in Europe, including Liverpool Sound City and Spian’s Primavera
Sound.

Sparky: Saskatoon
Sparky is one of the most powerful well known heavy metal acts in Saskatoon. They performed
to a full house for their 10 anniversary show in September 2011. The band has toured across
Canada and the U.S sharing the stage with hundreds of bands including Lamb of God, Into

Foam Lake: Saskatoon
Named after a town where their mother was raised, and their Grandparents died, Foam Lake is
a band of four blood brothers. Their music can be described as a mix of genres, styles, and
purposes. Some songs are heavy with electric guitar or synthesizers while others feature
organic vocal harmonies and strings.

Wyatt: Saskatoon
Four piece band that drives the sound of progressive country bands like Emerson Drive and
Doc Walker and grounds it with the depth and groove of Tom Petty. Imagine old school rock
combined with the rich, vocal flavors of Bon Jovi, The Eagles and Rascal Flatts…this is Rock
Country. Wyatt was been well received within the Canadian music industry taking home “Group
of the Year” not only once but twice at the 2008 and 2009 Saskatchewan Country Music
Awards.

Jason Plumb: Regina
With 25 years under his belt, former Waltons frontman Jason Plumb has amassed an
impressive body of work that has taken him across Canada and around the world. Winning a
Juno, gold-selling records, and doing major tours with The Barenaked Ladies and Blue Rodeo
have all contributed to his longevity.

Keshia Angeline: Regina
A combination of new school digital pop/R & B mixed with a timeless sound and voice being
described by many as smooth and addictive. 20 Year old Keshia Angeline has been taking
popular songs and changing them up to her own style. Her one remix cover has over 489,000
views on YouTube.

Chris Henderson: Regina
In 2006 Chris Hendersopn won the Big Country Talent Search, and from there a career in
country music started for a brand new high school teacher. Since then Chris has received 4
Saskatchewan Country Music Award nominations including: “Male Artist of the Year”, Album of
the Year”, “Rising Star”, and “Single of the Year” (You Don’t Scare Me)

Poor Nameless Boy: Regina
His sound can include anything from an acoustic solo act to a three piece eclectic performance
showcasing the melodic pop hooks hidden inside a folk / indie feel.

Val Halla: Regina
Her sound has been described as “Courtney Love meets the Allman Brothers”, and by friends
as a cross between the Grunge rock and Country genres, namely a new genre called “Gruntry”.
Val was the opening act on Ted Nugent’s Trample the Weak Hurdle the Dead tour playing 41
shows all across America, and has performed to just under 100,000 people in 2010 alone.
Highlights of 2011 included; shows opening for Rock n Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper, and
Canadian legend Burton Cummings of the Guess Who.

Tyler Gilbert: Regina
Tyler Gilbert is a singer / songwriter at the prime age of 22. His primary training was of the guitar
but he also dwells on piano, bass and harmonica, playing a mix of new-folk songs with soulful
vocals. Tyler accepts influences of al sorts; his main influence taps are of Zakk Wylde, Bob
Dylan, Neil Young and, Michael Jackson.

Jess Moskaluke: Langenburg
Having surpassed 7,500,000 YouTube views to date, 2011 was a whirlwind year for country
songstress Jess Moskaluke. An award-winning Canadian country artist in her own right, she
won both the 2011 Big Dog 92.7 “The Next Big Thing”, securing an opening spot with Grammy
award nominee Dierks Bentley and the 2011 Canadian Country Music Awards New Artist
Showcase.

Blake Berglund: Kennedy
Self producing his debut album, Blake Berglund went on to sell over 10,000 units. He was
recognized at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards for the “Rising Star Award”. His
recognition attracted attention from promoters opening doors to act as support for Corb Lund,
The Sheepdogs, Jason McCoy and Emerson drive.

Cities Under Fire: North Battleford
Cities Under Fire formed in 2009 as a collaboration between brothers Andrew and Jared
Hemmerling and David Millar. 2010 was the release of their first full length album “Lukewarm
Love”. The album was very well received with several award nominations, including “Gospel /
Contemporary Christian Recording of the Year” at the 2011 WMCA’s and winning “Modern Rock
/ Alternative Album of the Year” at the 2011 GMA Canada awards.
