NHL player Derek Boogaard’s death ruled accidental

NHL enforcer Derek Boogaard's death has been ruled accidental.

A coroner said the death was accidental, due to the mixing of alcohol and oxycodone.

Oxycodone is a powerful painkiller that can be addictive and has been blamed in some overdose deaths.

Boogaard, 28, was found dead in his apartment in Minnesota last Friday.

His funeral is being held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the RCMP Chapel at Depot in Regina

Boogaard was born in Saskatchewan. He started his junior hockey career with the Regina Pats before playing for the Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers in the NHL.
