Basically Beautiful III Art Show at SIAST Library until April 26
On Wednesday, March 30, from 11 am-12, there will be an Artists’ Reception of the Basically Beautiful III Art Show at the SIAST Woodland Campus Library Art Gallery. I would like to invite you to cover this awesome event.
Woodland Campus has a national-award-winning, innovative library which boasts all kinds of cultural events, including an art gallery which exclusively features SIAST students’ and staff’s work.
SIAST Woodland Campus’ largest program is the Basic Education (aka “Adult Upgrading” or “Night School”) Program, where over 100 adult students complete high school courses. The Program has Levels I, II, and III, as well as Grade 12, GED, and the Way to Work Course.
3 years ago, the Basically Beautiful show began in the gallery. It was a joint display by Basic Ed students, and it was astonishing. In fact, it was so well-received that we made it an annual event. We have an amazing variety of artists, with both traditional and non-traditional styles, and this year’s display contains work ranging from paintings through powwow regalia to tattoos (see enclosed document). We have people who have been exercising their craft for years and others who have just begun to utilize their talent.
