Saskatchewan ranks second in the country for workplace injuries.

CEO of the Worker's Compensation Board Peter Federko says it's a good news, bad news situation.

“Unfortunately, we are still going to maintain our dubious status of having the second worst injury rate in the country because of course other provinces have been coming down as well, not as rapidly as we are, but we had a longer way to go than they did.”

He says last year we saw a significant decrease in the injury rate. It dropped from 3.44 per cent to 3.12 per cent from January to December 2010.

The highest workplace injury rate in the country is in Manitoba.
