New program to reimburse living kidney donors
Mar 3, 2011 | 3:41 PM
People who decide to become a living organ donor to a Saskatchewan resident are now eligible for reimbursement for some expenses.
The province is providing $200,000 to launch a reimbursement program with The Kidney Foundation of Canada's Saskatchewan branch.
It should ease the cost for those who want to donate a kidney to a relative, but must travel or incur other expenses in order to help.
Up to $5,500 in compensation will be available for each living donor.
