Young Worker Readiness Certificate Course (YWRCC)

Complete the YWRCC Online! Then print your Certificate of Completion.

Our interactive online course includes:   user instructions;  the test;  learning modules;  certificate of completion

Download and print copies of your certificate of completion as soon as you pass the online test.    

Note:  You need a computer with access to a printer to obtain the certificate of completion and you should keep photocopies of your YWRCC certificate on file for future use.

*Records of certificates are not maintained by our Ministry. If your certificate copies are lost, you must retake the test. 

Certificate Requirements for Young Workers and their Employers

Effective March 31, 2010 – All 14 and 15 year old workers are required to complete the Young Worker Readiness Certificate Course (YWRCC) and obtain a Certificate of Completion

All young workers (14 and 15 years old) must provide their employer:  proof of age;   written consent from a parent or guardian; and  a copy of their certificate. 

Employers must keep the above documents on file. 

Other ways to complete the YWRCC and get your certificate:

·          Electronic copies of the YWRCC workbook and self-study guide (Modules 1, 2, and 3) are available below for download.

·          Hardcopies of the workbook and guide can be picked up or mailed out (upon request) from your  local Labour Standards district office, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) district office, or Career and Employment Services (CES) office. 

·          If you do not have access to a computer/printer, you may complete the test online at your nearest CES office. Call your nearest CES office in advance to make arrangements.

·          If you cannot complete the test at your local CES office, you may request a hardcopy of the test by calling any of the Labour Standards, OHS or CES offices listed above.

Minimum Age of Employment

TheMinimum Wage Regulations were amended to establish age 16 as the general minimum age of employment in Saskatchewan.  An ‘absolute’ minimum age of 14 has also been established provided those 14 and 15 year old workers fulfil certain requirements.
