Another person has been sentenced in last year’s notorious St. Louis home invasion that left a 71-year-old beaten, tied up and robbed.

On Tuesday, Adam Joseph Cardinal of One Arrow First Nation appeared in Melfort Provincial Court. He was sentenced in nine charges relating to home invasion and theft.

He was sentenced to three years in custody, less time he already served while awaiting trial. In total, he will serve two years and 144 days.

Cardinal is one of seven people charged in the incident, including two youths.

The home invasion occurred in July 2010. The assailants entered the home of Helen Doderai who was 71 at the time.

They tied her up and hit her several times before ransacking the home and stealing several items.

Doderai was left tied up, but eventually escaped after the thieves left. She rode her lawnmower to a neighbours house where she called police.

The other two adults involved, Lennox Dickson and Cody Daniel were sentenced to seven and eight years respectively.

The two youths were given mixed sentences that included custody and probation.
