The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region has entered a new partnership.

The region will share their team of orthopaedic surgeons with the Kelsey Trail Health region.

The province is providing $236,000 to cover costs associated with purchasing additional equipment and staffing resources.

The service will be expanded in Melfort Hospital and Nipawin Hospital.

Four surgeons from Prince Albert will visit Kelsey Trail once a week, on a three-week cycle.  Clinic appointments will be scheduled to follow surgical bookings on each visiting day.

The plan will see an additional 260 orthopaedic surgeries in the two communities.

The CEO of Kelsey Trail Health Region, Glen Kozak, said this arrangement will help them address surgical waitlists.
