Tisdale and area seniors will soon have a new place to call their own.

A new seniors’ living complex has been approved for construction across from the Tisdale hospital.
Tisdale mayor, Rollie Zimmer couldn’t be more thrilled about the news.

“We’re very, very happy that this is coming to fruition,” he said.

The seniors’ residence will allow seniors to stay in the Tisdale area, and not have to move to larger centres such as Saskatoon for a good quality of life.

“This is a way of keeping our seniors in touch with their families … close (and) nearby. And I think it’s just terrific that we can do this,” said Zimmer.

But this is not only a good opportunity for the seniors of Tisdale, it is also good for the younger residents.

The centre is going provide “25 plus” jobs to the community as well as job opportunities in the construction of the buildings, Zimmer explained.

The centre, called Caleb Village, will have 94 condos, with both one bedroom and two bedroom suites.

Some of the units have already been reserved, and Zimmer is confident that once construction gets underway the rest of the suites will go quickly.

An announcement banquet is scheduled for Jan 25th in Tisdale. It will include a ribbon cutting ceremony.
