Jan 8, 2011 | 9:04 PM

Prince Albert SK- The Prince Albert Raiders defeat the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-2 in a six round shoot out. The Wheat Kings tied the game in the dying seconds of the 3rd period to tie it at two but the Raiders would hold out for the victory and earn the two point

The Raiders opened the scoring at 9:39 of the first period when an Igor Revenko slap shot from the hash marks was tipped by Mark McNeill past Wheat King goaltender Corbin Boes.

The Raiders would extend their lead to two before the period was over with a power play tally at 14:27. Ryan Button would feed a pass to fellow defenceman Jordan Rowley who had crept into the Wheat King zone and was positioned on the ringette line along the boards to the left of goaltender Boes. Rowley would make no mistake on the one timer and beat Boes for his first of the season and give the Raiders a 2-0 lead heading into the 3rd.

Ryan Button would feed a pass to fellow defenceman Jordan Rowley who was on the ringette line along the boards. Rowley one timed the Button pass past Boes for his first of the year, giving the Raiders a 2-0 lead heading into the second period.

The Wheat Kings made it a one goal game at 7:57 of the second period and would complete the comeback and tie it at 2 with just 8 seconds left in the game.

After overtime solved nothing, the Raiders would head to a shoot out for the third time this season. The Raiders would shoot first and in the 6th round, after goals from McNeill, Parker and Herrod, Shane Danyluk would score, putting the pressure on the Wheat Kings to keep the game alive. Ryan Pulock was unable to beat goaltender Eric Williams, who stopped 38 of 40 shots in the game and 3 of 6 shooters in the shoot out, to give the Raiders the 3-2 victory.

The Raiders have now won 3 of their past 4 and host the Wheat Kings again on Wednesday at the AHC.
