Frank Moore: PA’s “Citizen of the Year”

Jan 8, 2011 | 6:20 AM

Frank Moore is Prince Albert’s “Citizen of the Year” for 2010.

He was part of the initial group that set up Habitat for Humanity in Prince Albert, and was the president for 14 years.

“It was an opportunity to really be of service, and it certainly was my desire being a Christian person myself,” said Moore.

Grant Gustafson is the one who nominated Moore for the award, which is given out annually by the Prince Albert Kinsmen Club and the Prince Albert Daily Herald. It's given to a person who exemplifies community work or has been a big promoter of Prince Albert throughout the years.

“Because of all the work Frank’s done that’s really made a difference in the community. There’s a lot of people out there who are recognized and you see it as being part of their job. Frank has done this because it’s what he does, it’s the right thing to do,” said Gustafson.

But while Moore is deserving of “Citizen of the Year”, he said he’s sharing the honour with his wife, Ingaborg Moore, whose funeral was on Thursday.

“The great number of compliments she received [at the funeral] for her career as a volunteer, most recently with the Cancer Society and CanSurmount. We’re always aware of her giving and caring ways in the community,” said Moore.

For all the work Moore and his wife have done in the community, organizers said the “Citizen of the Year” award is just a small way to say thank you.

The “Citizen of the Year” charity banquet is Feb. 4.
