PAPHR Appoints Dr. Brenda Hookenson as Co-Senior Medical Officer

Prince Albert Parkland appoints Dr. Brenda Hookenson co-Senior Medical Officer.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region has appointed Dr. Brenda Hookenson a long-time
Prince Albert family physician to the medical administration team.  Dr. Hookenson will assume her duties
as co-Senior Medical Officer on April1, 2011.

 “I’m pleased to have Dr. Hookenson participate on our leadership team,” said Cecile Hunt, Chief  
Executive Officer. “She brings knowledge based on more than 30 years of service as a family physician.
Her commitment to her colleagues and her patients will be an asset to our region.”

Dr. Hookenson is currently a family physician with Associate Medical Clinic in Prince Albert.

She has also been with the Prince Albert Community Clinic and has been a staff member at both the Victoria Hospital and Holy Family Hospital.

A clinical assistant professor with the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine, she has also been a clinical preceptor with the College of Family Physicians. In 2008, she was named Saskatchewan’s Family Physician of the Year by the Saskatchewan College of  Family Physicians. 

Dr. Hookenson was a board member of the Saskatchewan Medical Association from 2005-2009.

“I look forward to joining the leadership team of the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region,” said  
Dr. Hookenson.

Dr. Hookenson will be co-Senior Medical Officer, along with Dr. Edmund Royeppen. Both will
balance their administrative duties, while continuing with clinical practice.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region provides services and programs to about 78,000 people in one
city, and 40 towns, villages and rural municipalities, as well as 12 First Nations. It is a major referral centre for health-care services for residents of northern Saskatchewan.
