Blades blast Raiders in first period

The Saskatoon Blades broke it open early with four unanswered first period goals and that was the difference in a 5-1 win over the visiting Prince Albert raiders on Thursday night.

Darian Dziurzynski led the parade with a pair of those first period goals. Josh Nicholls and Brent Benson also scored in the opening frame. Stephen Elliot closed out the scoring on a late third period power play.

The Raiders lone goal-getter was Brandon Herrod, who picked up his 17th goal of the year, late in the second period.

Jamie Tucker came off the bench and was sensational in the final two periods but that was one of the lone bright spots for the raiders. The final score was 5-1 for Saskatoon.
