Saskatchewan art gallery closing its doors

It’s hard to miss the Glen Scrimshaw Art Gallery on Highway 11 between Saskatoon and Prince Albert.

The gallery which has been in Duck Lake for nearly 20 years is closing in January.
Glen Scrimshaw is moving his operations to the Duck Lake museum. The gift shop will sell his art work.

“It's time for me to slow down, it's what I'm headed for,” said Scrimshaw.

Scrimshaw said times are changing and traffic is not what it once was.

“Over the last ten years you know I could almost see it every year, just a little bit less traffic. A lot of people have stopped in at my gallery… 2, 3, 4,10 times….so how many times do you stop in at one place? I myself, I go to stores but not every day.”

Scrimshaw said this change will allow him more time to enjoy life and focus on his painting.

“I'm never gonna quit what I'm doing, just maybe a little bit more of a smaller scale.”

Scrimshaw said his art gallery in Saskatoon will not be affected.
