Wall named Politician of the Year

Dec 22, 2010 | 5:43 PM

It's more national recognition for Saskatchewan's Premier.

Last week CTV named Brad Wall its Politician of the Year

Today, the Business News Network named him the Newsmaker of the Year

The honour is for the national and international headlines he created while battling BHP's hostile takeover attempt of Potash Corp.

Wall told BNN, Ottawa's decision to deny the bid has not hurt foreign investment.

“We are grateful for this by the way that in the wake of the decision we’ve seen several positive announcements of companies from outside our country wanting to invest in Saskatchewan in greenfield projects including BHP’s indication they are going to go ahead with a brand new mine,” he said.

Wall – in so many words- admits he was taken by surprise by Federal Industry Minister Tony Clements decision.
