Prince Albert Raiders defeat the Regina Pats
Prince Albert SK-The Prince Albert Raiders defeat the Regina Pats 6-3 to take the first of three in a row against the Pats.
The Pats opened the scoring at 7:45 of the first period after Jordan Weal was able to capitalize on a Raider turn over to make the game 1-0. The Raiders though would tie it at 1 at 18:21 of the first on the power play. Sebastian Svendsen corralled a Mark McNeill shot from the slot and was able to beat goaltender Damien Ketlo who didn't expect the redirection and was caught going the wrong way. The Pats regained the lead just 16 seconds later and took the 2-1 advantage into the second period.
The Raiders wasted no time responding in the second period with Svendsen getting his second of the game just 14 seconds into the frame. It was all Raiders in the second and went up by one just 4 minutes later when Todd Fiddler was able to fire in a loose puck that Justin Maylan had lost working his way to the net.
At the 13:26 mark of the frame, it was again Justin Maylan setting up the play. Off the draw in the Pat's zone, he poked the puck through the opposing centre man's legs, moved around him and got a quick shot on net that provided a juicy rebound that Jonathan Parker was able to put into the back of the cage to give the Raiders a 4-2 lead heading into the third.
