Chamber of Commerce Chairman’s Report

Dec 4, 2010 | 12:20 PM

Wow where did 2010 go here we are in the throes of the last month of the year?

Holiday parties and socials are coming fast and furious; Retail businesses are stacked to the walls with inventory and extended hours for these retailers loom with staffing challenges faced daily.

Even though we have had no major announcements for major industry or mining sectors there is still an abundance of activity in these areas.

I know a number of agencies are working hard to put the right people together to achieve successful ventures and partnerships; we must be prepared for the next announcement as it could come at any time and growth is inevitable.

I think as a business community we can reflect on the past year and be thankful for the steady economy we have experienced!

New business start-ups are at record highs and new development in our region means business will thrive. Our city and area are great places to do business and raise a family, as well as enjoy a quality of life second to none.

I recently made a trip to our closest major city to the south for a medical appointment, I was amazed at the traffic, and it was easily 45 minutes to get from 33rd street to  RUH hospital. Here in the Prince Albert area we could be home to Shellbrook, Christopher or Emma Lake or Birch Hills in that time.

Please remember this the next time you get in a minor delay on 2nd Avenue or 15th street. This is truly a great place to be!

As we close the year out let us all plan for a successful 2011 and in that plan be sure to involve the  Chamber, we are connected to the largest group of business in the country and we are here to help your business to grow in a successful business environment.

Let us know at the Chamber what we can do to help your business in the area succeed and grow!

Chairman
