Prince Albert stopped to remember on Thursday.
It was the annual Remembrance Day ceremony at armouries. There were hundreds of people in attendance.
Second World War veteran, Bill Felthan, fought in England with his five brothers.
He said the ceremonies brought back a lot of memories.
“It was not an easy thing to go through,” he said.
He was only 15 years old at the time, spending most of his time in England he also went to Burma, India and Singapore.
“We did make our way through it even though we were just kids at the time.”
Laurie Breker spent the day with her father, Aime Brassard a Second World War veteran.
“It was something that he has always held high esteem of himself, for being part of history and he fought for everybody’s freedom. It means a lot for him and the family,” she said.
Having a day to remember those who died for our country is very important, Breker said.
“War still goes on and to know how important it is what these people give up and give up is huge,” she said.
The sentiment was not lost on the younger generation either.
Dominique Gareau and Antonio Morin both took in the ceremonies. The two, 11 year olds both had family who fought in the Second World War.
“It means we respect and honour the fallen that have fought for our freedom,” said Gareau.
Morin said he likes Remembrance Day because some of his family fought in the war.
The ceremonies began at 10:45 with the entire room quiet at 11 a.m.
