Province’s announcement a bit late for local man suffering from MS

It’s a bit late for Allan Novotny, but he said the province’s announcement that it is investing $5 million dollars to fund clinical trials for the Multiple Sclerosis Liberation Treatment is great news.
Allan, along with his brother Jamie, suffers from MS. Back on Sept. 24, their brother Darcy held a golf tournament fundraiser to raise the money to send them to Poland to receive treatment.
Allan said it costs a lot of money to travel overseas to get help.
“$10 thousand per person, plus flights, it’s a lot of money to raise,” said he said.
Luckily, the golf fundraiser raised enough money to pay for the surgery. Allan and Jamie still have to pay $1,400 each for the flight, though.
Allan knows not all people are that lucky to receive help from others. He is hopeful that with the province's announcement, it won't be such a headache for those suffering from MS in Canada to get the treatment they need.
“It’s definitely easier to have treatment in your own backyard, instead of having to go a great distance,” said Allan.
