Months of delays and driver headaches on Saskatoon's Idylwyld Freeway are nearly over.
Paving and finishing touches on a massive upgrade project are in their final stages.
“The end is in sight,” said Mike Gutek with the city of Saskatoon. “Incrementally, at least, we'll get the freeway running again here by the end of October, early November and finish the rest of the stuff up shortly thereafter.”
The work was supposed to be finished weeks ago. But Gutek says all that rain we had over the summer led to multiple delays.
The effects of restricted traffic on the freeway and the Senator Sid Buckwold Bridge were compounded by dozens of other road construction projects across the city and the sudden closure of the aging Traffic Bridge.
