Health region CEO gets a raise

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region CEO is receiving a raise.
The health region board approved what they call an economic adjustment of 5 per cent to the salary of Celine Hunt during their board meeting in Birch Hills on Wednesday.
“Cecile does a very good job for us. (She) does a tremendous job. She hadn’t had an adjustment since April 1 of 2009,” said Gord Dobrowolsky, chairman of the health board.
“She had met targets that we had set out for her as a board and we felt that it was simply time.”
He said the board appreciated the work Hunt is doing for the health regions and that it is important to give CEOs consideration.
“We have to be very cognisant that people like CEOs of health regions are in demand Canada wide and we as a province are quite a bit behind in salaries, when it comes to comparing us to Alberta BC and other provinces,” Dobrowolsky.
Hunt will now be making about $173,450 annually, low compared with the CEO of the Saskatoon Health Region, who makes $312,287. The CEO of Five Hills Health Region, a region of comparable size that includes Moose Jaw, makes about $261,806 annually.
Hunt’s adjustment will be effective as of April 2009.
