CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE IN INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
—————————————————————————————————
September 1st, 2011 was an important day in the Village of Prako, a community just north of the capital city of Accra in Ghana, West Africa.

The Village Chief and Council assisted a Canadian delegation to officially break ground for the establishment of brandnew sanitation facility within the next few months. The new facility will provide about 10 to 12 public toilets for both men and women.

At the present time, Prako does not have any reliable water supply and/or public sewer systems. Currently, the Coca Cola Africa Foundation, in collaboration with WaterHealth, is establishing a reliable water supply to the homes in the village. The new sanitation project, spearheaded by Brampton Christian Fellowship in Brampton, Ontario, will provide needed relief until a full sewer system can be developed in the distant future.

Initially, the Centre for Excellence in International Development will play a minor role assisting with the initial development of the project and will be actively involved in assisting to seek additional funding for the project, if needed.
