Geek gamers let the drooling commence

The Video Gaming Awards were featured this weekend on Spike and with them came some of the hottest game trailers for 2013 and onwards.

So without further adieu here is a list of the newest, hottest, sexiest games of 2013 with my personal commentary on each.

First off we have the much awaited, much anticipated, much blood lusted Bioshock Infinite.

Now fans of the series will remember the raw, heart pounding action that we have come to expect from the series. According to this gameplay trailer that side of the game is larger than ever before, along with the steampunk-style gadgetry and strange mystical powers that our hero seems to possess.

This trailer gave me chills down my spine, after waiting in anticipation for nearly two years for this game to be released, my inner geek rejoiced. The question is will we be able to wield the powers of our character using special gameplay additions like Kinect or the Playstation Move? Well according to an article from NG4.com…no.

However creator and god Kevin Levine stated that while this game will not provide support for either of these systems, it doesn’t mean future Bioshock installments will not. This not only means we could be controlling the game with our own bodies in the future but that there is a continued future for the Bioshock series!

Moving on, next up is the trailer for the reboot of Tomb Raider.

While I haven’t been keeping up to date with this rerelease of the popular titular title of the late 90’s and early 2000, I do find some elements interesting in the gameplay shown in this trailer when compared to the original Playstation version.

First of all there are some strong elements of Assassins Creed apparent in the creeping around and silent kills that Lara seems to execute in the trailer. As well I get the big ballsy feel of Final Fantasy as well in some of the cut scenes and melee battles, which would make sense since its being released by Square Enix.

I have to say that if this game follows through with the gameplay it shows in the trailer I will certainly give it a go.

While I’d love to write about every single game trailer that was released during the VGA’s it would take up like ten pages. So I had to choose one last one out of many awesome games being released, and it was not an easy choice.

However I decided on this little diddy, new to Playstation.

The Last of Us, will feature professional voice actor Troy Baker as Joel, a gritty, hardened runner, surviving in a post-apocalyptic world filled with a deadly fungus that takes over your body.

The story trailer with game play elements featured a lot of what you’d see in the ‘Unchartered’ games, common of Naughty Dog. I also detected a Red Dead Redemption feel, mixed in with the hot graphics of ‘LA Noire’.

Xbox players will be shunned once again though, so it may be time to invest in a Playstation 3 before this May release.

So that’s it, if you’d like to see the rest of the trailers that were released I’ve listed them below for you to check out and judge on your own.

South Park: The Stick of Truth
