Putting your best face forward

As much as we are taught not to judge a book by its cover, the truth is we often judge our own self by our own cover. When we look in the mirror and we like what we see, we feel good. When we look in the mirror and aren’t pleased, we tend to beat ourselves up and feel bad.
Whether it’s acne or rosacea, aging or sun damage, there are things you can do to look better. There is a strong connection between our emotional wellbeing and our physical appearance. When you look better, you feel better. Here are some different strategies.
An inexpensive strategy is skin care. Skin care products like cleansers, moisturizers and serums can actually make a visible difference to the quality of your skin. We’ve been discussing this in recent weeks on CKBI. What matters in skin care is the clinically proven cosmetic ingredient. The quality of the suspension also matters. For acne, work with salicylic acid. For rosacea, look for peptides. For aging and sun damage, reach for vitamin C. These are all proven effective ingredients. Brand name doesn’t matter but quality does.
