Marlene Bird dies

Nov 27, 2017 | 7:51 AM

Marlene Bird, a high-profile victim of crime in Prince Albert, has died.

A friend of Bird’s, Linda Lavallee, told paNOW she died at 7:30 this morning. Lavallee did not disclose the cause of death.

Bird had tragically become synonymous with the 2014 attack that forced the amputation of both her legs. Her attacker Leslie Black was recently sentenced to 16 years for his savage attempt on her life.

Black attacked Bird in a downtown alley on June 1, 2014, sexually assaulting and beating her, before lighting her on fire and leaving the scene.

Recently Bird told paNOW she was hoping to receive prosthetic legs.

There will be a memorial service  at Full Gospel Outreach on Central Ave.
