Four arrested after six sprayed with bear mace

Four suspects are charged with break and enter and assault with a weapon after people were sprayed with bear mace in their home last week.

On Sept. 24, around 2 a.m. police responded after suspects entered a house on the 100 block of River Street E. and bear sprayed six occupants.

When they arrived at the location, officers noticed a vehicle leaving the scene. After pulling the car over, officers located four men inside the vehicle along with a can of bear mace. During the search, police found a loaded 22 caliber rifle.

Parkland Ambulance attended the scene .Those in the home were assisted as they suffered from the effects of the spray. None of the six went to the hospital.

Police do not see this incident as random.

A 24-year-old man from Montreal Lake was charged with break and enter, possession of methamphetamine, assault with a weapon and several firearm related charges. He will make his first court appearance on Oct. 2.

Three other youth, aged 17 and 16, were charged with break and enter, possession of a firearm and assault with a weapon. They will appear in court on Oct. 2.
