Tourism remains steady in Prince Albert

Jan 5, 2017 | 1:00 PM

It appears tourism remained steady in 2016.

While it’s difficult to keep track of all of the visitors to the region, Prince Albert Tourism does know how many tourists stopped into the information office. On average, there are about 4,000 visits made annually to the tourist office and that number was on par with visits this year.

“There was a dip in visitation in 2015 due to the wildfires in June and July,” Linda Carter with visitor services said.

“We see a lot of RVers who are en-route to or from the Yukon and are passing through Prince Albert and Flin Flon,” she added.

While the majority of visitors are looking for things to see and do while they are in Prince Albert, the tourism office also sells Parks Canada fishing licenses which Carter said makes up most of their clientele.

“This past year, a typical year, we saw visitors from across Canada, the United States and from as far away as New Zealand,” Carter said.
