P.A. Police find cocaine, meth in major seizure
A Prince Albert man is facing serious drug charges after an investigation led police to discover a large stash of cocaine yesterday.
Officers from Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) and the Integrated Street Enforcement Team (ISET) initiated a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Second Ave. W. and observed a suspect in the vehicle known to be breaching court orders. He was arrested and found to be in possession of 6.2 grams of methamphetamine.
Police continued to investigate and were soon led to a rural property outside of Prince Albert where they located nearly 600 grams of cocaine. Sgt. Travis Willie said the cocaine was discovered in 20 individually-wrapped packages weighing approximately an ounce each, and has a street value of roughly $30,000. Willie said the meth seized was worth roughly $600, and officers also seized $565 cash from the residence.
Mike Wiegers, 40, of Prince Albert was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, and breach of court orders.
