A fitness report was ordered this morning in provincial court to determine if a man accused of possessing a homemade Taser is able to stand trial.

Darcy Kyle Herman, of La Loche, was arrested Dec. 6 after a routine traffic stop on 13th St. W. He was initially arrested for several outstanding warrants, and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the homemade energy weapon.

Herman is facing several charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and breaching several court orders.

Judge Earl Kalenith, who ordered the fitness report, said he was satisfied it was appropriate based on a recommendation from Herman’s lawyer.
