Bears’ boys spike competition at 4A Provincials

The LP Miller Bears are now the provincial champions.
 
The senior boys’ volleyball team finished first at the the 4A tournament held over the weekend in Rosetown/Biggar.
 
The Bears defeated schools from Biggar (2-0) and Fort Qu’appelle (2-1) in the preliminary round.
 
The Bears would then go on to beat Outlook (2-1), and Senator Myles Venne (2-0) in the playoffs, before finally beating Shaunovan (2-0) in the final.
 
Bears’ heach coach Dave Christiansen said the boys worked hard and came together as a team.
 
“Even when they were down, they thought they could still come back and they did just that in the finals,” he said.
 
Christiansen said he is very proud of his team.
 
“I hope they enjoy their day here and I’d like to thank the communties of Nipawin and White Fox for supporting us,”  he said.
 
The Bears’ have won provincials three times since 2012, most recently in 2013.
 
This year’s team featured seven Grade 12 students.
