UPDATE: La Loche shooter may be sentenced as an adult

Apr 14, 2016 | 12:19 PM

The crown prosecutor in the case of the now 18-year-old accused La Loche school shooter, served notice to sentence the accused as an adult.

The case was adjourned until June 6 at 1:30 p.m. The accused will appear via video from a La Loche court.

The teen, who can’t be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with four counts of murder, seven counts of attempted murder and the unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The accused made his first court appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court in February but has since been transferred to La Loche. Cases are generally heard where the incident took place but due to the La Loche court house also serving as the RCMP investigation office, the accused first appeared in Meadow Lake.
