Garth Brooks in Sask to raise money for Sask Children’s Hospital

Aug 26, 2015 | 8:50 AM

Country music legend Garth Brooks will be in Saskatoon and Regina Wednesday to raise money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.

He will first visit Saskatoon for an 11 a.m. reception at Kreos Aviation. He will then head down to Regina for a 5:30 p.m. dinner and program at the Conexus Arts Centre.

Brooks is not charging the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan for his appearances. He is visiting in his role as the co-founder of Teammates for Kids Foundation.

Tickets cost $5,000. Each event is limited to 200 tickets. A 90 per cent tax receipt will be issued to ticket holders.

On Tuesday, the foundation said it will have to raise another $25 million because the price of the new hospital has gone up.

Now that the contract has been awarded, construction on the main building will start next month.

Graham Construction expects to take 10 months longer than previously thought. That means the hospital won’t be open until late 2019.

Brooks’ visit will raise $2 million for a state-of-the-art therapeutic play room.
