Bail decision on hold for youth accused of murder
A Prince Albert judge is taking a few days to decide if she’ll grant bail for a boy accused of first-degree murder.
On Monday, arguments were given for and against releasing the boy who police believe shot Marina Thorpe on April 19 on a walking path in Prince Albert’s Crescent Heights neigbourhood.
The 14-year-old boy, who can’t be named due to a publication ban, sat with his hands together at all times in a prisoner’s box at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
Defence counsel Garth Bendig requested a publication ban on the bail hearing, which means reporters can’t share the details put forth by lawyers.
