Could a TV network’s tour help fix the water slides?

paNOW has learned that options are being explored regarding the repair of the four main water slides at Kinsmen Water Park in Prince Albert.

A crew from national sports network TSN will be in the city on Sunday filming the water slides for the Kraft celebration tour.

The winning community gets $100,000 and the top 10 communities will get $25,000 each.

The City of Prince Albert announced in a statement that it would allow visitors to the water park on Sunday to be admitted free of charge.

The statement also said that a resident, Shannon Hurl, initiated the nomination after consulting with the City.

“For the last 28 [years] there has been a summer tradition for children in Prince Albert,” said Hurl in her nomination, according to the statement. “Going to Kinsmen Water park is symbol of summer in this city.”

The slides were closed this year due to their state of disrepair. The cost to fix the slides is an estimated $260,000.

The City has said it would like to seek a community partner to contribute $200,000, and the city would put up the remaining $60,000.
